Wesley Combs is the co-founder of WITECK COMBS
COMMUNICATIONS. A marketing communications specialist, Combs brings over eighteen years experience in strategic planning, market research and training, and
communications experience in the private and non-profit sectors.
Combs founded Witeck-Combs Communications in 1993 and the firm just celebrated its tenth anniversary in October
2003. The firm is a public relations and marketing communications firm with two distinct focuses: gay and lesbian marketing, as well as health and disability marketing
and public relations. The firms current clients include: Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, IBM, American Airlines, Wachovia, U.S. Social Security Administration,
Volvo, Jaguar/Land Rover and the Mautner Project for Lesbians with Cancer.
Just prior to founding Witeck-Combs Communications, he worked for two years as a
Consulting Services Manager for Future Enterprises, Inc., a software training and consulting firm in the Washington area. Combs helped FEI develop a consulting services
practice, building on the company's success as the area's largest provider of personal computer software training.
Prior to joining FEI, Combs worked for over seven years as a marketing executive with IBM,
where he was part of a marketing team that launched IBM's Consulting Services' division in the Washington area. While at IBM, he was recognized for outstanding sales in a given
year by winning IBM's Hundred Percent Club and Golden Circle Award.
He graduated Cum Laude from Georgetown University with a degree in Business Administration and a major in marketing in 1985.
Combs' involvement in the community is extensive, serving on the National Advisory
Council of the U.S. Small Business Administration from 1999-2000. He currently serves as the co-chair of the Human Rights Campaign's Business Council and also formerly served
on its Board of Governors from 1991 to 1993. He also serves on the National Advisory Board of the Gender Public Advocacy Coalition.
The Gay Financial Network (GFN.com) named Wes Combs and his co-founder, Bob
Witeck as one of the 25 most influential openly gay and lesbian executives in corporate America two years in a row (1999 and 2000.)
In April 2003, American Demographics magazine identified Wes and his business partner
Bob Witeck as two of 25 experts over the last 25 years who have made the most significant contributions to the fields of demographics, market research, media and trend
spotting for their path breaking work on the gay and lesbian market.
And, in December 2003, Out Magazine named Wes Combs and Bob Witeck two of 2003's
most intriguing and influential gay people for their work in helping companies market to the gay and lesbian consumer market.
